From the East
Brethren,
Spring has sprung and there is a freshness in the air. It’s the time to open the windows and let the fresh air and sunshine in. Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a dreaded list of chores, see it as a time to get rid of clutter, and you may find that it was blocking the door you’ve been looking for. It’s incredible to me we are already ¼ the way through this Masonic year. However, there is still so much yet to do.
With Spring comes BBQs, outside and family activities, be conscious of snakes enjoying that sun as much as we do. When you let the dog out in the morning, check along that doorstep, I’ve had them nestled up to the house catching that heat.
Speaking of family - I was having a conversation with a gentleman, who had asked about Masonry. We had that general, vanilla, “this is Masonry” talk. Then I made a statement about “my brothers “of the Lodge. He cocked his head to the side and looked up as if he had heard something unexpected. As a member of other organizations, he had built those friendships, but it didn’t have the bond, we enjoy. Masonry is a commitment, not to an organization or club, but to you my brothers, a family by choice.
Take care of yourselves, enjoy that spring sunshine, and most of all as we read in Psalm 133:1 – “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity”

Welcome to the month of April my Brothers and friends.
This month we celebrate the holiday of Easter. As we attend our BBQs and gatherings among family and friends, let us remember that Easter celebrates the the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In the New Testament of the Bible, the event is said to have occurred three days after Jesus was crucified by the Romans and died in roughly 30 A.D. The holiday concludes the “Passion of Christ,” a series of events and holidays that begins with Lent - a 40-day period of fasting, prayer and sacrifice - and ends with Holy Week, which includes Holy Thursday (the celebration of Jesus’ Last Supper with his 12 Apostles, also known as “Maundy Thursday”), Good Friday (on which Jesus’ crucifixion is observed) and Easter Sunday.
Although a holiday of high religious significance in the Christian faith, many traditions associated with Easter date back to pre-Christian, pagan times and have since been adopted as folk customs, such as the decoration of eggs and the tale of a mystical rabbit who hides them.

Welcome to April, We are now over ¼ of the way through the 2022 Masonic year. It is flying by! If you have not been to the Lodge in a while, please come join us for a Stated Meeting or an upcoming Degree. We miss you and would love to see you!! We are meeting at 0800 on the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of the month at the Lodge for coffee and then breakfast. Our candidates and new Brothers are often there. Come join us and get to know these fine men that are joining our Fraternity.
The receipt of dues payments has just about dried up with about 45 Brothers that are in arrears. Remember, you have an obligation to pay your dues. If you have not made your payment, you are overdue. The dues for 2022 are $118.00. Per our By-Laws, the calculation is $60.00 + per capita rounded up to the nearest dollar. Per capita is $57.25 this year, which gives us our total of $118.00. We will be paying the Per Capita to the Grand Lodge in July and your lack of payment affects the Lodge’s abilities to make its financial commitments.
If you are in arrears for your dues, you need to pay all that is owed to be brought back in to good standing. As an example, if you pay for 2022 only, and owe for 2021, I cannot send you your 2022 dues card. You are still in arrears and will need to bring your dues up to date first. Please contact the Master or myself to discuss this if you have any questions.
If you are 2 or more years in arrears, you may be suspended for non-payment of dues as per the California Masonic Code, Section 809.370. Suspension for Non Payment of Dues. Neither the Master, I, nor any other Brother in Lodge wishes this to happen
