From the East
Summertime is upon us. Although we wake up to the morning “June” gloom, we are assured of a beautiful sunny afternoon, perfect for barbecues and picnics. Take some time this summer to enjoy your family and friends, visit the sites of San Diego, or just take some time for yourself.
I don’t have much to report this month. The restoration work on the building will soon begin again. We have opened up the ceiling in the upstairs dining room and are gathering estimates to continue to the work.
Our 100 year celebration is right around the corner. There will be email blasts sent with invitations and information as for the November 18th event.
Lastly, As I have shared at this months stated dinner, Catheren and I will be taking an extended vacation this summer. We will be leaving July 5th and returning the first week of October. While away, the Lodge will be in the capable hands of your Senior Warden, Chase. Have a safe and enjoyable Summer.
Dave Murray, PM - Master
From the West
Welcome to the month of June my Brothers and friends.
This month we will be crossing the halfway mark for the year of 2022, which is hard to believe as it seems like just yesterday we were gathering for installation.
This June will also mark the third observance of the newest federal holiday here in the United States, Juneteenth National Independence Day, otherwise known simply as Juneteenth. The addition of this federal holiday two years ago marked the first time a new federal holiday had been signed in since the Martin Luther King Jr day was signed as an official holiday on November 2, 1983.
For those that are not aware what this holiday celebrates, the Juneteenth celebration which has been observed unofficially since 1865, commemorates the emancipation of slaves in the United States on the anniversary of the date on which emancipation was announced in Galveston, Texas.

From the South
Greetings from the South. I was checking on the menu for the June stated meeting dinner and came up with a blank. I know that we will be having dinner but it looks like it will be a surprise. No worries, we have always had an outstanding dinner supplied by Ranch Catering. After recovering from a very wet Spring, we are all looking forward to a warmer Summer (Not too warm I hope). We are rapidly going into the final half of the year. I am looking forward to seeing you all at the June Stated meeting dinner for a bit of a surprise.
Don Ruch, PM - Junior Warden
Secretary’s Corner
June is here and so is summer! Time to spend time with your family and your Brothers. If you have not been to the Lodge in a while, please come join us for a Stated Meeting or an upcoming Degree. We held two 3Rd Degrees in April and both were excellent! Congratulations to our newest Master Masons, Bro Elijah Descoteaux and Bro Wade Hendry! All of the line did an outstanding job during the both Degrees. We also had the privilege of having Round Table Lodge #876 conducting the second section of Bro Wade Hendry’s Degree in full costume. They did an outstanding job and it was truly an awesome sight to behold!
Several of our Entered Apprentices working hard on their Proficiencies’. We will be having 2nd Degrees in the upcoming months and we miss you and would love to see you!! Now is the time to reconnect with the Lodge and your Masonic family! We are meeting at 0800 on the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of the month at the Lodge for coffee and then breakfast. Our candidates and new Brothers are often there. Come join us and get to know these fine men that are joining our Fraternity.
I continue to very slowly receive Dues payments. However, there are still 21 Brothers that are in arrears. Remember, you have an obligation to pay your dues. If you have not made your payment, you are overdue. The dues for 2023 are $121.00. Per our By-Laws, the calculation is $60.00 + per capita rounded up to the nearest dollar. Per capita is $60.25 this year, which gives us our total of $121.00.
If you are in arrears for your dues, you need to pay all that is owed to be brought back in to good standing. As an example, if you pay for 2023 only, and owe for 2022, I cannot send you your 2023 dues card. You are still in arrears and will need to bring your dues up to date first. Please contact the Master or myself to discuss this if you have any questions.
Please go to member.freemason.org and check out your personal information. Ensure that your email, mailing address, phone number etc are correct. This is how the Lodge and the Grand Lodge contact you. It is important that this information be up to date. If you have trouble doing this, please contact me and I will assist you. Maintaining your contact information ensures that you will receive all notices that the Lodge and the Grand Lodge sends out in a timely manner. Please go check it out!
If you are financially unable to pay your dues, please contact the Master to discuss.
If you have lost your envelope, you can mail your dues to:
Santa Maria Lodge No. 580,
PO Box 68, Ramona, CA 92065
You can also go to our website, http://www.santamaria580.org, and pay online. If you have paid and have not received your card in a reasonable amount of time, please contact me at 951-970-4294 or secretary@santamaria580.org and I will take care of it.
