From the East
Brethren,
I apologize for the lateness of this months Trestle Board. As most of you know, Catheren and I are on an extended RV trip North into Manitoba Canada and Eastward to Michigan.
Along our travels It warms my heart to see Masonry alive in even the smallest towns across the US and Canada.
Although schedules have not allowed me to attend Lodge in the wonderful cities we’ve passed thru, I’ve been fortunate, and able have a quick look inside a few. I happened onto one lodge, on a Saturday morning, holding a work party, cleaning painting, etc… great camaraderie and fellowship. Another, I found the front door open and the Secretary busy at work as most lodge secretaries usually are. I’m often approached by a brother, as he sees my ring or hat, or I hear that familiar phrase, followed by a friendly handshake, and that acknowledgment of brotherhood.
We are on the road until October and look forward to sharing our adventures with all upon our return. Until then, God Bless and have a safe Summer. A couple of Lodges I’ve seen.

Welcome Brothers and friends, to the month of August.
This year has been flying by at least for me. Between the renovations to the building, handing out of scholarships, degrees and proficiencies, we have had a busy year to say the least.
As we move through August and into September, renovations continue to progress. As of this month’s Stated Meeting, we will be starting on our newest project which is to renovate the lounge/dining room upstairs, breathing new life into the space by raising the ceiling to it’s original height, fixing the walls and lighting, as well as re-doing the age-old wiring that’s up there currently. We are also hoping to have the new Master and Secretary office furnished so we can get Wor. Graham out of the little corner he has now.
As mentioned by Wor. Murray, who has been on the road enjoying a much needed vacation, he has entrusted me with care of the lodge until his return for the October Stated Meeting. As such, feel free to reach out to me in his absence if you have questions or topics you would like discussed at the September and/or October Stated Meetings.
Lastly, a few schedule change announcements for the remainder of the year:
The October Stated Meeting will be held on 16OCT instead of 09OCT due to Columbus/Indigenous Peoples’ Day.
The 100th Year Celebration is scheduled to take place on 18NOV. Start time has not yet been determined.
The December Stated Meeting will be held on 04DEC instead of 11DEC.
This year’s Installation of Officers for the Masonic Year of 2024 will be taking place on 09DEC, starting at 11:00am.

Ladies, Brethren and friends, I'm sure you know that August is dark (and warm), which is to say that there is very little lodge activity this month, We will be having our Stated Meeting but no stated meeting dinner. I'm sure the Master will tell you that the stated meeting will start promptly at 6:30 PM August 14th, If you have been following our Worshipful Master Dave Murray and his lady Catheren on Facebook you know that they are having a great adventure. I will not steal their thunder so... check them out on social media. Our Stated meeting dinner menu for September 11th will be a tropical fare; Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, Tropical Rice, glazed carrots, Island Coleslaw, Hawaiian Rolls and Coconut Cream Pie. The sitting Master Chase Murray may agree to make Hawaiian Dress optional...???

Secretary’s Corner
August is here and the year is rapidly winding down. The Lodge is Dark this month. There is no meal at the Stated Meeting. Remember, per our By-Laws, the August Stated Meeting starts at 6:30PM. Even though we are dark, we will still be having coffee on the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of the month. Come join us and have some great fellowship with our newer Brothers, our older Brothers and some of our prospects.
There are still 21 Brothers that are in arrears. Remember, you have an obligation to pay your dues. If you have not made your payment, you are overdue. The dues for 2023 are $121.00. Per our By-Laws, the calculation is $60.00 + per capita rounded up to the nearest dollar. Per capita is $60.25 this year, which gives us our total of $121.00. Per Capita is due to the Grand Lodge and your lack of payment affects the Lodge’s abilities to make its financial commitments.
If you are in arrears for your dues, you need to pay all that is owed to be brought back in to good standing. As an example, if you pay for 2023 only, and owe for 2022, I cannot send you your 2023 dues card. You are still in arrears and will need to bring your dues up to date first. Please contact the Master or myself to discuss this if you have any questions.
Please go to member.freemason.org and check out your personal information. Ensure that your email, mailing address, phone number etc are correct. This is how the Lodge and the Grand Lodge contact you. It is important that this information be up to date. If you have trouble doing this, please contact me and I will assist you. Maintaining your contact information ensures that you will receive all notices that the Lodge and the Grand Lodge sends out in a timely manner. Please go check it out!
If you are financially unable to pay your dues, please contact the Master to discuss.
If you have lost your envelope, you can mail your dues to:
Santa Maria Lodge No. 580,
PO Box 68, Ramona, CA 92065
You can also go to our website, http://www.santamaria580.org, and pay online. If you have paid and have not received your card in a reasonable amount of time, please contact me at 951-970-4294 or secretary@santamaria580.org and I will take care of it.
