From the East
Greetings Brethren and Ladies,
Here we are in June and another month with the Corona virus crisis. Everything is still on lock down and we are still unable to meet. There does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel though. Shops are now opening and a few restaurants even have sit down seating again. This pandemic has surely taken its toll on our community though. Businesses have closed and schools have been out since March. Our poor Seniors have been unable to do Prom or any other fun senior activities. Graduation has even been changed and we still are unsure of what will happen next.
There are some bright spots. I took my daughter, Jamie, to her Senior Drive Through Celebration, which she loved. All the cars and teachers out there to support our graduating class. It was amazing to see the outpouring of support from the teachers and the community. Everyone was full of smiles and happiness! I am unsure of what will happen or if life will ever get back to what it was before all this.
All I do know is that the generation coming up behind us is strong, intelligent, and willing and able to tackle whatever comes its way. Congratulations class of 2020!! You make us all very proud!!
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Ken Bychak - Worshipful Master

Well midyear is closing in, and it’s only 207 days to Christmas. Though the year hasn’t gone quite as we expected, we can still make a difference in peoples lives. Call someone you haven’t spoke with in a number of years, check on one another, break out the pen and paper, (yes some people STILL write letters) or send a card of encouragement if you know someone struggling through this pandemic.
I’ve made a number of calls to brothers near and far, and it seems everyone is doing pretty well. It is however, with a sad heart to report we have lost another brother. Brother Elvin Reamey passed away at the end of May. I would ask that you remember his family in your prayers to give them strength in dealing with this tragic loss in a time when there are so many struggles to contend with.
If you know of anyone in need please contact me directly.
Fraternally,
Your Senior Warden.
Dave Murray

Greetings Brethren and Ladies,
As we still continue to deal with the pandemic, please do your best to keep yourself and your families safe. With the reopening of the country, which includes some of our local businesses, do not take these events as “everything is back to normal.” Please continue practicing social distancing where able, as well as washing of hands else we run the risk of another rise in virus spread.
Fraternally,
Chase Murray, Junior Warden
I hope everyone is staying safe! As we continue with these trying times we must learn to do our best to keep ourselves and our families safe and sound. If any Brother needs help, please contact the Master, one of the Pillars or myself. We will do our best to help you or refer you to a service that can help. Even as we Social Distance from each other, remember, we are one family and it is our duty to help one another!
At this time the Grand Lodge has not released the restrictions on meetings. We do not expect to have a June Stated Meeting. As soon as we receive word, the Master will get it sent out and inform you of our status.
The year continues to move on and there are still approximately 26 Brothers who have not yet paid their dues. As you know, the Lodge pays Per Capita to the Grand Lodge every August. The Lodge must pay this every year, whether you pay your dues or not. By not paying your dues in a timely manner, you infringe on the Lodge finances and affect your Brothers. The Charity Committee has reviewed the requests of 9 Brothers to have their dues remitted. They have recommended to the Master to approve these 9 requests. The Master has approved the list. Per the Grand Secretary, the Master has the ability to do this and when we meet again at a Stated Meeting, the Brethren will receive official notice of the proceedings.
If you are financially unable to pay your dues, please contact the Master to discuss.
Please remit a check in the envelope provided with your dues notice. If you have lost your envelope, you can mail your dues to:
Santa Maria Lodge No. 580 PO Box 68, Ramona, CA 92065
You can also go to our website, http://www.santamaria580.org, and pay online. You can make payments for 2018, 2019 and 2020 there. If you have paid and have not received your card in a reasonable amount of time, please contact me at 951-970-4294 or e-mail me at secretary@santamaria580.org and I will take care of it.
