From the East
Brethren,
I cannot believe 2023 is upon us. Santa Maria Lodge has had a banner year. Just a few of our 2022 achievements:
We initiated and brought six new brothers to the Santa Maria Family.
We passed two of those brothers to Fellowcraft while the others are working hard to advance as well.
We were honored by 931st district inspector, when asked to host their district OSI, as we passed a brother. The hard work and attention to Ritual by your officers has become a standard for others to emulate. Well done Santa Maria.
We hosted Novus Veteris 864 for a 2nd degree and Festive Board.
Our beloved 100 year old building has seen an incredible amount of renovation, from the expanded preparation room, to the new office space and storage upstairs to the fabulous dining room downstairs, we have enjoyed throughout the year.
Though the stock market has had a “not so stellar” year. We have been fortunate in our investment and actually seen a gain. This will allow us to continue our progress in building renovations, and ensure our Lodge is financially secure for years to come.
Our Friday dinners have been well attended and a good time is always had by all. I look forward to this tradition continuing, with a couple of ideas to be included in the coming year.
Our Saturday breakfasts with the brothers has really been a success. The time for introduction to potentially new brothers and general visitation is invaluable. I have learned so much about everyone this year – their backgrounds and their interests. It gives us the time to really get to know each other.
As I have been honored to be elected to serve are Master of Santa Maria Lodge for the ensuing Masonic Year, I would like to give a quick outline of our goals for 2023:
First and foremost, we will continue our work in the craft. The upcoming year is expected to be a busy one, with the brothers working hard to advance through the degrees, and the potential applicants we have, your officers will be busy for sure.
Santa Maria will be celebrating our 100th year in 2023. There is much work ahead of us for planning our celebration in November. More to follow as we move forward with those planning efforts.
We will be continuing with the building renovations and improvements. We hope to make some improvements to the Lodge room, upstairs dining room, and start work on a kitchen downstairs.
We are looking at options for a potential cruise and other activities away from the lodge and even out of Ramona, throughout the year.
I will be working with the officers on a calendar of events to be released as early as possible.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Dave Murray - Worshipful Master
