From the East
Brethren,
Happy New Year to you, your families and all dear to you. As this Holiday season comes to a close, I hope you had a wonderful and joyous Christmas with family and loved ones. I pray the New Year brings you health, happiness and prosperity, and that all your resolutions be easy to keep.
I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for electing me Master of your Lodge for another term. It is very humbling to be elected Master of the Lodge, and even more so, being entrusted with this esteemed roll “twice”. I promise that I will continue to give it my all, and live up to the trust and confidence you have bestowed upon me.
I thank all the Brothers who have stayed in the Officers Line and those who have accepted the Committee responsibilities. I would also like to thank those who have stepped up to fill the few voids we did have, as we move toward our 100th year as a Lodge.
The goals we set the last few years have been achieved or made great progress. Congratulations Santa Maria Lodge for an outstanding year.
I am excited to start a couple of new programs this year. We will be having at least one “Bring a Friend night this year”, but I want every Brother to feel free to bring someone to any Stated Meeting Dinner throughout the year. Even better, if you know of a Brother Master Mason who hasn’t attended Lodge in a while. Get him to come out to a meeting and share in our fellowship. It just may re-light his fire for the craft.
As another new program this year, we will be placing a box in the dining room to collect old eyeglass frame. There is a continual demand for old frames for San Diego County residents who do not qualify for public assistance or other vision programs, and often fall through the cracks. I have begun reaching out to the other Lodges in our district to grow this effort across the county, and hope this continues for years to come.
We look forward to the 2nd Annual Designer Bag Bingo fund raiser in support of the International WAGR Syndrome Association. (IWSA). Last year’s event was a great success and greatly appreciated by the organization.
I look forward the coming year and seeing Santa Maria Lodge continue to grow. As always, we will continue our “dinners out” on Friday nights, and coffee with the brothers, every 2nd and 4th Saturday upstairs. Watch the Google Calendar and/or website for this year’s events
As always, if anyone has questions or in need, please reach out to me at dmurray62@me.com.
